My Approach and Methodology
My therapeutic approach is centred on the profound wisdom your body holds. Rather than traditional talk therapy alone, I offer an embodied framework where we engage directly with your body’s sensations, movements, and nervous system responses. This method honours that healing happens through experiencing and feeling, alongside thinking and verbalizing your concerns.
Through sensorimotor processing and experiential practices, you’ll explore what’s happening in your body in real time, using your body’s own feedback systems as pathways to understanding and integration. This bottom-up approach allows for deep transformation that goes beyond words, supporting your nervous system’s natural capacity for healing and resilience.
Movement as Sacred Expression
Movement in our work together extends far beyond conventional structures—it’s the sacred conversation between your body’s sensations and wisdom. Whether through gentle breathing, micro-gestures, organic movement, sound, or stillness, I honour that all movement is good movement and that your body knows what it needs.
This approach honours movement as your life force energy, free from external judgments about what bodies “should” do. Dance and rhythmic expression emerge as authentic self-expression and communication—a fundamental assertion of who you are through embodiment. We work with resonance and relationship to create meaning that is entirely your own.
Relational and Culturally Attuned
Healing happens through the safety and trust we build together in our therapeutic relationship. My relational approach recognizes how your early relationships have shaped your understanding of yourself and the world, while our collaboration provides a living container where you can experience and practice new ways of being in relationship.
I integrate sociocultural attunement throughout our work, deeply understanding how factors like race, culture, gender, sexuality, and other aspects of your unique identity influence your lived experience. This means adapting my approach to honour and work within your cultural framework rather than imposing dominant norms.
Trauma-Informed and Liberation-Focused
My practice is grounded in trauma-informed principles that recognize how overwhelming experiences live not just in our thoughts, but in our bodies, relationships, and nervous systems. Together, we work gently with your body’s natural responses to support emotional regulation, nervous system healing, and the completion of protective responses that may have been interrupted.
My approach is deeply rooted in anti-oppressive, anti-racist, queer, feminist, and disability justice values, centering African Diasporic experiences and the various intersections of identity of the Global majority/BIPoC. I welcome anyone who values a socio-culturally attuned methodology that de-centres colonial cultural standards. Together, we honour your authentic self, creating spaciousness for ancestral wisdom and multiple ways of knowing and experiencing.
An integration of somatic modalities
I weave together various somatic approaches including Somatic Experiencing®, Body-Mind Centering®, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Developmental Somatic Psychotherapy, NeuroAffective Touch®, and Interpersonal Neurobiology. These modalities work synergistically to support your healing through gentle, body-centred practices that honour your unique needs and capacity.
Each session follows your body’s wisdom and what feels authentic while cultivating felt sensations of safety in each moment. There’s no pressure to move in ways that don’t feel right—we work to support your agency and autonomy, working within your capacity to grow and nourish your resilience.
